Full Stack Application Remediation Engineer

Compensation: $120,000 – $130,000 Base Salary + Benefits

Location: Fully Remote (Option to work hybrid out of our Venice, CA office)

About SonoSim & The Role

At SonoSim, we create user-friendly digital experiences that transform medical education and improve healthcare outcomes. As our LMS ecosystem expands, maintaining general platform health, resolving rapid fixes, and upholding secure coding practices across services are paramount.

We are seeking a versatile mid-level Full Stack Engineer (4+ years experience) who loves getting "hands-in-the-code" to tackle quick wins, proactively resolve maintenance tasks, and perform ongoing service improvements with secure coding practices top of mind. Operating across our full web ecosystem, you will focus on resolving general bugs, implementing maintenance updates, validating APIs, and addressing application-level vulnerability remediations. You have the experience to pivot easily across repositories without hand-holding. You are adept at leveraging AI tools to accelerate delivery while keeping applications stable and secure for our members.

Core Responsibilities

  • Quick Wins & Maintenance: Deliver production-ready fixes, routine updates, and general maintenance across our web applications.
  • API & Service Health: Secure and maintain Express/tRPC, REST, and GraphQL endpoints with reliable input validation.
  • Web App Enhancements: Build small-to-medium features, UI updates, and internal tools using Angular 19, Express, tRPC, and Prisma.
  • Legacy Codebase Support: Audit and patch legacy backend services built with Python, Django, GraphQL, and REST APIs.
  • AI-Assisted Development: Utilize AI tools (e.g., Claude, Codex, Kiro) to diagnose issues, write tests, ship updates, and remediate security risks.
  • Engineering Rigor: Thoroughly test edge cases and API-UI integration prior to production deployments.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with product, DevOps, and engineering peers in Agile practices (code reviews, pair programming, sprint planning) to ensure high team alignment and knowledge sharing.
  • Task Agility: Seamlessly pivot between security tickets, dependency updates, and feature requests.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Experience: 4+ years of full-stack web development experience with a focus on web application maintenance, feature delivery, and secure coding practices.
  • Core Tech Stack: Strong proficiency in TypeScript/JavaScript across frontend (Angular) and backend (Express, tRPC, Prisma).
  • Backend & APIs: Practical knowledge of REST APIs, Python, Django, and GraphQL for maintaining legacy services.
  • Application Security: Solid understanding of secure coding practices and experience addressing common security risks (OWASP Top 10, auth fixes, dependency updates).
  • AI Tooling: Experience leveraging AI coding assistants (e.g., Claude, Codex, Kiro) to accelerate problem solving and patch generation.
  • Mindset: Pragmatic and solution-oriented developer who thrives in a fast-paced environment with context-switching across varied technical tasks.
  • Collaboration & Communication: Excellent communicator who thrives in team-oriented environments, actively participating in peer feedback and collaborative problem-solving.
Salary: $120,000 – $130,000 / year
