Job Description

About Wedge

Wedge helps healthcare organizations deploy and scale AI employees. We're live across hundreds of clinical locations, supporting more than two million patients nationwide. We’re looking for exceptional folks to join our team as we keep up with surging demand.

About the role

Wedge is hiring software engineering interns on a rolling basis to work side by side with our founding team in San Francisco. You'll join a fast-paced team of AI engineers building the platform that will shape the future of American healthcare. This is a high-ownership internship: you'll ship production code across our full stack, build AI agents that automate real hospital back-office operations, and own at least one feature of our platform end to end. By the time your internship wraps, there will be something live inside health systems that exists because you built it.

What You'll Do

  • Ship end-to-end features across our agent platform and backend services
  • Build AI and LLM applications for healthcare operations: agent orchestration, prompt pipelines, and the evaluation infrastructure that keeps agents reliable inside hospitals.
  • Own at least one feature of our platform, from scoping and design through deployment and iteration.
  • Wear multiple hats with mentorship from top engineers and our CTO
  • Contribute to how we build: code reviews, testing, and documentation alongside the team.

Qualifications

  • Proficiency in one or more of TypeScript, React, Node.js, or Python. Showcased by shipping real projects, ideally agentic or LLM-based.
  • Thrives in complexity and ambiguity, prioritizing collaboration and seeking the best ideas regardless of their source.
  • A willingness to pitch in wherever needed. We move fast, and we need team players who are eager to contribute.

Bonus

  • Hands-on work with LLM prompt engineering, RAG, or agent frameworks.
  • Experience with workflow automations.
  • Familiarity with healthcare data and standards: EHRs, FHIR/HL7, etc.
  • Open-source contributions, hackathon wins, or side projects people use.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (Azure, GCP, AWS) and Docker.

The details

We hire on a rolling basis. If you’re exceptional, we want to chat with you. Candidates shouldn't have to wait for a summer cycle to start. Internships are full-time and in person in San Francisco, and interns who excel are first in line for full-time offers as we grow. If automating the back office of American healthcare sounds like a problem worth your time, we'd love to meet you.
