About Selfin
Selfin is a Y Combinator-backed startup building an introducing broker that helps companies hedge the events that hit their P&L: a club's relegation, an airline strike, a drop in GPU rental prices. We structure those hedges as block trades on regulated prediction markets and work with institutional market makers to execute them.
We started Selfin because we believe that for prediction markets to become a new asset class, institutions have to come in. We want to create a whole new industry, and we're building the bridge that brings companies and institutions into these markets.
Our team comes from MIT, Stanford and Imperial, with experience at NASA, Bank of America, Rolls-Royce and BCG, . We're small, early, and founder-led, and we're looking for people bold enough to build something new in finance and rigorous enough to do it right. You'll work directly with the founder every day.
About the role
This is a hybrid sales and quant role. Half of it is selling to CFOs; the other half is building the analysis and the tools that make those conversations win.
What you'll do
- Sell. Draft outreach to CFOs and treasurers, join customer calls, take notes, and own follow-ups until there's a next step on the calendar.
- Execute deals. Broker block trades between our clients and institutional market makers: get quotes, negotiate size and price, and see each trade through to settlement.
- Risk models. Build the models that size and price each client's hedge: event probabilities, payoff scenarios and how much of the exposure to cover.
- Exposure memos. For each target company, write a one-page analysis: what the market implies about the probability of their key event, what a hedge would cost, and what happens if they don't hedge. This is our main sales asset.
- Build the machine. Use code and AI agents to automate account research, intro mapping and memo drafts, so we can cover 10x more companies without losing quality.
- Account research and intro mapping. Build a named list of 30–50 CFOs and treasurers across sports, aviation and AI compute, and find the warmest path into each (shared connections, investors, YC alumni).
- Sales materials and pipeline. One-pagers per vertical, answers to recurring objections ("Is this legal?", "Who's the counterparty?", "How does it settle?"), a clean CRM and the weekly pipeline review.
Your first 90 days
- First 30 days: draft exposure memos for 10+ target companies, build your first AI-assisted research workflow, and join live CFO calls.
- By day 60: broker trades with the largest market makers alongside the founder.
- By day 90: execute trades.
Qualifications
- Currently studying at or recently graduated from a top-tier university (e.g. Ivy League, MIT, Stanford, Berkeley, CMU, Chicago, NYU, Imperial, Oxford, Cambridge, LSE) in finance, economics, math, engineering, computer science or similar — OR previous internships at top firms (investment banks, hedge funds, trading firms, top consultancies, top tech companies or YC startups).
- You can sell. You've convinced people to buy, join or fund something, and you're comfortable talking to senior people.
- You can code and are comfortable building your own agents with AI tools.
- Comfortable with probabilities, options or derivatives basics.
- You do the boring work well and you don't wait to be told what's next.
Bonus points
- Internships at investment banks, hedge funds, trading firms or top consultancies (Goldman Sachs, Susquehanna, Jane Street, Citadel, McKinsey, BCG…).
- Previous experience at a YC startup.
- Background in quant, trading, treasury, sports business, aviation or prediction markets.
- Hackathons, side projects, or something you started yourself.
What you get
- A front-row seat building a regulated financial business from zero.
- Real ownership from day one
- Autonomy, speed and full visibility into how the company is built.
- A path to a full-time Founder's Associate role, with equity, if we both want it.
