Forward Deployed Engineer (FDE)

$30,000–$55,000 USD per year + 0.05%–0.5% equity. Full-time, in person in Bengaluru.

You'll take enterprise software implementations from the first customer conversation to a working system in production. You'll work directly with customers, software companies, and systems integrators, use Lab0's agents throughout delivery, and build the code and tools needed to finish the job.

What you'll own

• Understand how a customer's business works. Run discovery sessions, map workflows, and turn incomplete or conflicting requirements into a clear implementation plan.
• Build and ship. Configure enterprise platforms, write integrations and connectors, migrate data, and build the workflows needed to make a system useful.
• Use AI agents throughout delivery. Build reusable tools, skills, and automations, check their output, and improve them when they fail.
• Prove the implementation works. Define acceptance criteria with the customer, test workflows across systems, debug failures, and support user acceptance testing, go-live, and the first weeks of support. Keep requirements, changes, approvals, and test results connected.
• Own communication with the people using and approving the system. Explain tradeoffs, run demos, manage scope, and keep delivery moving.
• Make the next implementation easier. Turn recurring customer problems into product improvements and reusable capabilities with the founding team.

Who we're looking for

• 3+ years of experience in software engineering or technical implementation, with work you've personally shipped.
• Strong coding and debugging skills. You're comfortable with APIs, databases, integrations, and learning an unfamiliar codebase or enterprise platform.
• Comfort working directly with customers. You ask useful questions, explain technical decisions clearly, and can move from a business problem to a working solution.
• Regular use of AI coding tools and agents, with judgment about how to test and verify what they produce.
• Ownership through the messy parts of delivery. You follow through, surface problems early, and care whether the customer can actually use what you've built.

Previous consulting or systems integration experience is appreciated, especially if you have delivered customer implementations yourself. Hands-on experience with one or more of the platforms above is a plus. You should be comfortable going deep in a platform you know and learning the others as the work requires.
