QUALITY SYSTEMS ENGINEER (STARLINK)

At SpaceX we’re leveraging our experience in building rockets and spacecraft to deploy Starlink, the world’s most advanced broadband internet system. Starlink is the world’s largest satellite constellation and is providing fast, reliable internet to 12M+ users worldwide. We design, build, test, and operate all parts of the system – thousands of satellites, consumer receivers that allow users to connect within minutes of unboxing, and the software that brings it all together. We’ve only begun to scratch the surface of Starlink’s potential global impact and are looking for best-in-class engineers to help maximize Starlink’s utility for communities and businesses around the globe.

These products including Starlink dishes, Wi-Fi routers, power supply, and accessories, etc. are designed and manufactured in-house by SpaceX. Engineers on the team will be hands-on, regularly interact with multiple technical disciplines, and ultimately ensure that Starlink is a global success. The Quality Systems Engineer will improve the quality management system and verify compliance to ISO 9001 prescribed procedures. They will plan, schedule, and perform regular audits to drive continual improvement initiatives.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Define and regularly update Starlink’s Quality Management System (“QMS”) and provide frequent training to relevant SpaceX personnel on ISO 9001 compliance requirements and industry standards
  • Assess Starlink core business processes, systems, and products through internal audit program to assure compliance to customer requirements, SpaceX procedures and policies, and ISO9001 standards
  • Utilize corrective and preventive action processes to address compliance non-conformances and drive improvement of the management system and quality of the Starlink Product
  • Support internal audits, vendor/supplier audits, and audits from external parties
  • Take a methodical approach to identifying the largest quality related issues and risks impacting manufacturing of the Starlink Product and partner with relevant stakeholders to minimize risk

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor degree in an engineering or STEM discipline
  • 1+ years of experience in mechanical or electrical product design, testing, or manufacturing

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • 3+ years of experience in mechanical or electrical product design, testing, or manufacturing
  • Thorough knowledge of the ISO family of standards especially ISO 9001
  • ASQ-CQA-RAB certified lead auditor or training with hands on implementation and assessment experience
  • Intimate knowledge of manufacturing and supplier quality processes
  • Experience with quality tools including root cause and corrective action, QMS and process auditing, and statistical analysis of quality metrics
  • Working knowledge of SQL, ability to construct and/or maintain Tableau metrics
  • Strong technical writing skills, ability to communicate effectively with management, technical teams and all organizations in the business, and strong problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative with a strong work ethic; is innovative, detail oriented, positive, and be people oriented

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to work extended hours and weekends as needed
  • Must be willing to relocate to the Bastrop, TX area if not already local; remote or hybrid work not considered
