About The Role
Weâre looking for an experienced Excavator Operator to join our Canberra team, supporting the delivery of underground utility infrastructure across the ACT and surrounding areas.
In this hands-on, field-based role, youâll work closely with pipelayers to excavate, trench, backfill, and reinstate works, helping expand critical utility networks. This role offers a good mix of machine operation and teamwork, working alongside other crews and contractors on site.

In this hands-on, field-based role, youâll work closely with pipelayers to excavate, trench, backfill, and reinstate works, helping expand critical utility networks. This role offers a good mix of machine operation and teamwork, working alongside other crews and contractors on site.
Key Responsibilities Include
- Operate excavators for trenching, backfilling, and remediation works
- Work alongside pipelayers to deliver underground mains and services
- Read and interpret construction plans and drawings
- Ensure all work meets safety standards and construction guidelines
- Communicate with builders, plumbers, and property owners on site

- Proven experience operating excavators in civil or utility environments
- Experience with trenching, compaction, and backfilling
- Current MR/HR licence (essential)
- Relevant tickets: White Card, Traffic Management, Asbestos Awareness
- Ability to work in a field-based team environment and independently when required
- Strong safety focus and practical problem-solving skills
