Civil Designer (AutoCAD & Civil 3D) AU | WFH

The client is a Queensland-based private civil engineering consultancy specialising in civil infrastructure design and documentation for land development projects. The company’s services include stormwater drainage, roads and pavements, water and sewer infrastructure, and associated civil works for private developers.

As the company continues to expand its offshore support capability, it is seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Civil Designer to deliver accurate drafting, design, and technical documentation across multiple small-to-medium-scale private development projects while supporting the onshore engineering team.

The ideal candidate is technically strong in AutoCAD and capable of supporting full civil design with minimal supervision. Civil 3D exposure is preferred, though strong civil design fundamentals remain the priority.

Candidates should demonstrate strong production discipline, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple project deliverables simultaneously while maintaining quality and turnaround expectations. Exposure to Australian standards and private development projects is highly preferred, though candidates with strong transferable civil experience from similar markets will also be considered.

This role will work closely with the offshore engineering team and is expected to communicate proactively, identify drafting or coordination issues early, and contribute positively to project delivery efficiency.

What You’ll Do

• Confirm project scope of work and client requirements
  
• Review project data requirements early to minimise delays
  
• Convert project concepts into technical civil plans and documentation
  
• Prepare concept and detailed civil design drawings, reports, and calculations
  
• Ensure compliance with Civil Works Engineers’ Business Management Systems
  
• Comply with environmental and WH&S requirements
  
• Support project efficiency through proactive communication and quality-focused workflows
  

Requirements

• Strong AutoCAD proficiency
  
• Civil works project experience including stormwater
  
• Ability to prepare drafting/design drawings and specifications across:
  

• Earthworks
  
• Sediment & Erosion Control
  
• Geometric road and carpark design
  
• Flexible and rigid pavement designs
  
• Stormwater drainage systems
  
• Sewerage reticulation
  
• Water reticulation
  

• Strong attention to detail and drafting accuracy
  
• Strong organisational and project management skills
  
• Ability to work independently with limited supervision
  
• Proactive and flexible approach to tasks
  
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
  
• Exposure to Australian standards is preferred but not mandatory
