Job Description

Open Contribution

Open Application - All Teams

WunderGraph is a fast-growing startup building the platform that takes the friction out of bringing digital ideas to life, from API design to full product delivery. Developers from some of the biggest companies in the world use WunderGraph to design and streamline their API environments. We raised our Series A ($7.5M USD) in March 2025, backed by eBay, Karma Ventures, and Aspenwood Ventures.

We’re growing across engineering, go-to-market, customer success, and operations. Sometimes the right person shows up before the right role is formally open. This is your chance to get on our radar before that happens.

About this Open Application

This isn’t a live vacancy, but an invitation. We can’t tell you exactly when a role will open in your area, or that one will at all.

We review open applications regularly, and when a role opens up that matches someone already in our pipeline (aka our talent community), we reach out to them first.

Who should apply

This process is self-selecting by design. We’re looking for people who:

  • Are genuinely interested in what WunderGraph is building and are able to articulate in detail what they are particularly interested in and why. If you mention “working on interesting tech” but do not show that you have checked out the tech we’re working on (hint: we are open source), then an open application is really not the route.

  • Are ready for a startup pace: things move fast, priorities shift, and we rely on people who can keep up and stay grounded and wear many hats.

  • Want to work on hard problems with real autonomy. People who don’t need to be told what to do once they understand the goal.

  • Share our core beliefs when it comes to how we all approach work, collaboration and communication. You can review them on our careers page.

If those things sound appealing rather than alarming, keep reading.

How to make a strong Open Application

Open applications live or die by the effort put into them. They do take a bit more effort, but here are some tips to help you so that you focus on the things that will be the most important:

  • A CV is not a short form list of past job titles. Tell us who you are and what you’re good at. What have you done and how?

  • This is one time a cover letter will be helpful and welcome. We will have a few questions as part of the application, but a short cover letter will be welcome, especially if you have anything in particular you want to talk about (e.g. our culture, tech, products etc.).

  • What to cover in the cover letter? Tell us why WunderGraph specifically out of all the startups and all the tech companies out there. Tell us what specific things you’ve seen about us that prompted you to submit this. Anything in particular you want to contribute to?

  • A GitHub profile, a portfolio, something you’ve built, written, or shipped. We’re a technical and creative team. We all tinker with something. Share something awesome you’ve created!

  • We are still a growing team - we have a few established functions, but we may be building out more. If you think you have skills that may fit between functions or in one that we don’t have yet - still apply!

  • Salary expectations, availability, timezone, and roughly what kind of role you’re after. Be honest about where you are and what you’re looking for. We will appreciate the transparency and reciprocate it!

Please note that applications with just a CV and flippant or purely AI-generated question responses or cover letters will not be considered.

The Process

Here’s what happens after you apply:

  • You submit your application with as much context about yourself as you can give us

  • We review open applications periodically and map them against our current needs and upcoming hires

  • If there’s a match — or we can see one coming — you’ll hear from us, potentially before the role is even posted anywhere

  • From there, the process runs the same as any other hire: an intro call with our People team, a conversation with the hiring team, and onwards depending on the role (we will walk you through the particulars during the People team call).

We may also inform you of potential roles that may be coming up in the next few months rather than now so we can see how our mutual timelines align.

We aim to acknowledge every application. We can’t always give detailed feedback on open applications, but we’ll always let you know if we’ve reviewed your submission and where things stand, although we would like to acknowledge that it may take a bit more time than our usual SLAs.

Why Wundergraph?

Here is a quick overview of some extra bits and pieces, but remember, the open application is for you to tell us what is of interest to you, beyond the below.

  • Fully remote and globally distributed — work from wherever you do your best thinking. If you’re in Miami, come work with us in person. Co-working options available worldwide.

  • Pick your preferred work hardware

  • We focus on getting stuff done — and having fun while doing it

  • Real ownership and real room to grow. This is a startup; what you do here will matter.

  • Discretionary PTO: take the time you need

  • Competitive compensation

  • Healthcare benefits depending on location

  • Team retreats across the globe

Note: We typically hire through Deel as our Employer of Record, except in Germany and the US where we hire directly. We’re looking for people available to work during European (CET) business hours.

WunderGraph is an equal opportunity workplace. We welcome and encourage applications from people of all backgrounds.
