PrismCV evidence and limitations

PrismCV is a tool from Endpaper Labs for inspecting resume content, preparing versions, and organizing an application portfolio. It reports what its own systems can observe so you can decide what to change.

Supported inputs

PrismCV accepts PDF, DOCX, TXT, and pasted resume text. You can also provide a job description when you want a job-specific relevance check. The workspace stores and organizes the resume versions and application details you choose to add.

What the parser and diagnostics measure

The parser extracts structured fields such as contact information, experience, skills, summary, education, and certifications when it can identify them. The diagnostic checks the extracted content for readiness, content-strength signals, and, when a job description is supplied, language relevant to that description. AI-assisted rewrites are suggestions that you review and control.

The current documented diagnostic model is v3. Its readiness gates and weighting are described in the scoring methodology.

Known limitations

  • A simple heading followed by plain-text bullet points is an example of a layout the parser can usually separate into a section and its entries.
  • A two-column layout can interleave content when it is read as a single text stream, which can make dates, titles, or skills appear in the wrong order.
  • Text that appears only inside an image, icon, chart, or unusual visual treatment may not become extractable text at all.
  • Tables, columns, icons, images, and unusual headings can extract inconsistently.
  • Employer ATS vendors, configurations, and recruiter workflows differ from PrismCV.
  • Keyword and content checks cannot verify that a claim is true or persuasive.
  • Job descriptions can omit requirements or differ from internal hiring criteria.

PrismCV does not predict interviews or hiring outcomes. Its results are diagnostics, not an employer decision or a guarantee that a resume will be selected.

These are illustrative formatting cases, not measured parser benchmarks or success-rate claims. Compare the extracted fields with your original document before relying on a diagnostic.

The Scoring methodology documents the current model, inputs, weights, and versioning. The Changelog records user-visible product changes. Review both when comparing results produced at different times.
